Whilst working on our latest in-house short film we needed a way to create easy to animate tentacles in After Effects. Our solution uses some crafty expressions and shape layers to get the job done. See how we did it in the videos below.
Let’s get started by building the basic rig using a bezier path to drive the shape of our tentacle.
And no let’s add some of the more advanced features including suckers which orient correctly along the path.
